There are 3 ways to get a Visa Debit card:
Visit your nearest YNCU branch.
Contact the Service Excellence Centre at 1-888-413-9628.
Wait for your current MemberCard to expire and a new Visa Debit card will be mailed to you prior to expiration.
Visa Debit cards issued in-branch:
You will select a new PIN during the Visa Debit card issuing process.
Visa Debit cards issued by mail:
When replacing an expired MemberCard, or for new members receiving a Visa Debit card for the first time, a new PIN will arrive by mail 3 to 5 business days after you have received your card. You can change your PIN at any YNCU ATM or Exchange Network ATM that has PIN change capabilities. If you do not receive your new PIN, contact our Service Excellence Centre at 1-888-413-YNCU for assistance.
When replacing a previously issued Visa Debit card, your PIN will remain the same and no further action is required.
Once you have successfully used your Visa Debit card, please destroy your old card and safely dispose of it.
All purchases made using your Visa Debit card will be funded by the primary chequing account attached to your card. When no primary chequing account is available, funds will come from the attached primary savings account.
If you do not have enough funds in your account(s) to cover your purchase, the transaction will be declined.
US accounts cannot be attached to a Visa Debit card and therefore cannot be used to fund purchases.
The Visa Debit card has limits that apply to POS transactions and ATM transactions. These default limits will remain the same as they are today.
Combined total of $1,505: $505 ATM and $1,000 POS
Interac Flash (tap): $250 per transaction and $400 cumulative spend limit.
The same fees apply to your Visa Debit card that applied to your MemberCard. If you make a foreign dollar purchase, there will be an optional issuer fee (OIF) of 2.50% of the transaction amount. This fee will be added to the Canadian amount debited from your account. This is charged on all international transactions.
